Our expert team have a combined experience of over 400 years in the industry - so it’s safe to say we know a thing or two about how to help you with your gauge and instrumentation requirements. Without further ado, meet the team…
Len
General Manager
With over 35 years of pressure gauge experience (over 32 years with us), there’s not much Len doesn’t know about the product & industry.
A keen animal lover with an impressive menagerie of 4x dogs, 4x horses, 2x cats, many chickens, and he’s also an avid quizzer!
Jamie
Sales Director
Jamie first joined us in 2002 till 2007 and then again in 2022, having worked for various instrumentation company’s both here, Singapore and Indonesia.
Now back here with us, he brings his instrumentation and application knowledge to our experienced team. A ‘Fairweather golfer’ and an avid pub goer, he’s always been close to the company even when working in Asia.
Sam
Managing Director
Straight from school in 2005 Sam opted to go into the family business, working in the calibration lab and workshop, then graduating into the office. Sam understands everything about pressure gauges, literally inside and out.
Another keen golfer, claiming to be the best in the company, making the family rivalry on the course very fierce. Sam’s dog Lyra also often comes to work, and is a familiar site bounding around the corridors and offices.
Aiden
Operations Manager
Aiden joined us from school and has worked his way up through the ranks, since 2010.
Player/Manager of a local football team and is the company prankster, regularly catching team members out.
Andy
Workshop Manager
Andy Joined SM Gauge in 1999, he really loves his role and the huge level of customer interaction he has on a daily basis, and like us all he’s SM Gauge to the core!
A car enthusiast (Boy Racer), a non-drinker & non-golfer (Shock), Andy typically spends his weekends with his wife & daughter.
Tim
Chairman
Tim started at SM Gauge soon after finishing his coach-building apprenticeship in 1981. Working with his dad John, together they began to grow SM Gauge.
Taking the helm in 1998, Tim has pushed the company forwards throughout the years to where we are now. Even now Sam has stepped up to the Managing Director role, Tim still comes to work every day, and usually makes his presence felt in some way or another! Also, a golfer, the ‘Sheppard Cup’ is a hard-fought trophy, with the accolade of ‘Best Golfer in the Family’ is the ultimate title for a Sheppard, and one Tim is yet to hold….
Neil
Business Development
Starting in as a delivery driver in Neil has progressed through the ranks to become our Business Development Manager. Out on the road most days, Neil has covered the South West & Wales Region for over 30 years.
His happy demeanour and ability to always see the funny side, make him very popular with our customer base. Another Bristol Rovers fan, Neil regularly travels all over the country with his son to watch ‘The Gas’ play.
Adey
Calibration Technician
Adrian joined us when we acquired Saunders & Weeks in 2023 and he’s been working in calibration for over 25 years.
He’s a loyal Bristol Rovers supporter and like many of us a dog lover, having owned numerous ex-racing greyhounds !
Dan
Calibration Technician
Dan started at SM Gauge in 2021. Typically working in our calibration lab, he also does many of our onsite calibration jobs, driving all over the country to various customer sites.
He’s a keen golfer and engages in some serious in-house rivalry with the other SM Gauge golfers. However, it’s his eating skills that really make him standout!
Mitch
Calibration Technician
Having previously worked in other calibration companies, Mitch already had some experience when he joined us in 2022.
Katherine
Accounts
A key member of the accounts team, Katherine joined us in 2019.
Katherine doesn’t golf, but she might as well as her husband and son are both golf mad! Kat loves her cats and is also keen on quizzes, although it might be the refreshments that she really enjoys!
Miles
Despatch
Dealing with all the goods in & Goods out, Miles has been with us since 2018.
He loves live music and is football mad, following England around the world whenever he can and watching Bristol Rovers, home & away every weekend.
Elkie
Workshop
Another Sheppard bringing her talents to SM Gauge, Elkie joined the family business in 2014, after spending time travelling and working abroad in Canada and France.
Probably the keenest golfer in the company, she is currently the holder of the Sheppard Cup, and regularly enters competitions and tournaments, she’s also a keen runner!
Rob
Workshop
Rob has been with us since 2022 and works between the workshop and despatch typically reassembling and inspecting.
A lifelong Bristol City fan and the manager of a local football team, his weekends are always busy.
